Tennessee Bound
Recently my husband and I loaded up the horses and headed to the South Fork trails in Tennessee. We stayed at True West Campground and Stables located in Jamestown, Tenn. owned by Donna and Shawn Martin. This was our second time to stay at this location and we have found it to be one of the best places to bring your horses to ride in Tenn. as well as a wonderful location to take photographs for future paintings. It rained on us as we loaded the horses and all the way down, but the next morning when we were ready to ride the sun started to shine and the fun began. From this location we could access the Big South Fork trails from several different directions having over 200 miles of riding. This campground has 67 stalls and 33 campsites. They also have lodging available in a suite, cabin, camper, or even several grassy spots for tents. We don’t have a camper, so we stayed in the Marshall suite which made our stay very comfortable. The barns are very large and clean, making a perfect place for your horse. If you have horses and love to ride this is the place to be. We enjoyed several wonderful days of riding with the weather being absolutely amazing! The sound of the rooster crowing in the morning, the delightful smell of the campfires at night, the friendly atmosphere, great hospitality, and miles and miles of sunlit trails, keep you coming back to True West year after year. We had an exciting trip spending over 50 miles in the saddle while we were there and taking many beautiful pictures that I hope to have time to paint. I usually don’t paint many landscape paintings, but there are a couple of pictures from this trip that I am really excited about trying on canvas. Another plus from this trip was the opportunity to sell my artwork at True West Mercantile , which is located on site with everything you need or want relating to horses. I have a wide variety of cards and prints that hopefully will remind someone of their horse, and they will choose to make a purchase.
