I’m very excited about starting a new painting this week of an Arabian stallion! I have been painting many saddlebreds trying to prepare to be a vendor at the Lexington Jr. League Horse Show in July. I hope all of you will come to visit my booth. More information will be posted about this as we get closer to the event. However last year as a vendor, I had a few request for Arabian horses. So I decided that this would be my next subject. I love to paint this breed because they have such gorgeous dish shaped heads and beautifully arched necks. My palette for this painting consist of these complementary colors : Cobalt Blue, Paynes Gray, Cadmium Orange and Burnt Sienna. I am painting with water mixable oils. These oils are very much like traditional oils but without the use of hazardous solvents that are required with traditional oils. They clean up with water which is also another plus. The base for this painting is hardboard rather than canvas, which is also a favorite of mine. This allows for a very smooth application of paint. Please continue to visit my blog and hopefully soon this painting will be completed and ready to view in the gallery.
